Simon Caltagirone - Barrister
Simon was called to the Bar in 2007 and is now cross-qualifying in order to practise as a Solicitor. He has dedication and enthusiasm allied to an astute legal mind, with a strong emphasis on tactical considerations.
Simon has worked on a number of notable cases including assisting Raymond Shaw and Daniel Kersh in the representation of a Defendant involved in the gangland importation of over one tonne of cocaine, securing the acquittal of a Defendant involved in a nightclub brawl, preparing the case of ‘’the laughing looter’’ widely reported in the National press following the August 2011 civil disturbances which, after detailed and persuasive mitigation resulted in a non custodial sentence, and acting for a private banker accused of abusing his position in a fraud that targeted high worth individuals.

Madeleine Corr - Solicitor/HCA

Madeleine joined SGK in 2010 having previously worked for a number of years in a firm associated with its strong civil rights ethic. She is a higher rights advocate and regularly appears in both the Crown Court and Magistrates Court. She has a strong and loyal following, and is known for her professionalism and dedication towards her clients.

Harry Grayson - Solicitor/HCA

Harry has been practising in the London Courts for the past 18 years where he has built up a considerable reputation for his advocacy skills and his caring and considerate approach towards his clients, particularly those who are vulnerable or who suffer from mental health difficulties. He is experienced in extradition law and also regularly appears in the Crown Courts where he conducts complex sentencing hearings and jury trials. Although London based, Harry frequently travels to and represents clients in other parts of the country, including the Crown Courts in Birmingham, Northampton and Leeds.

Sarah Khan-Lodhi - Consultant

Sarah has extensive experience in criminal work. She is a duty solicitor and her practice is focused on representing clients both at the police station and magistrates courts. Throughout her career, she has represented clients charged with a wide range of criminal offences and provides a quality service both in terms of care and attention given to clients.

Juleun Lim - Solicitor/HCA
Juleun is a higher rights advocate (he was called to the Bar in 2005) and cross qualified as a solicitor in 2008. He is an integral part of the Advocacy department as well as the General Crime department and as such he is well placed to act for clients not just in the preparation of their cases but also in the presentation of their cases in Court. Juleun has worked on a number of notable cases, including a 6 week money laundering trial involving a widely reported large scale multi handed money laundering operation between the UK and Jamaica. He has also successfully represented a Defendant charged with kidnap of a male on a busy London street and was also successful in his representation of a Defendant held to have an 'upper management position' in a large scale cannabis factory ring.

Caroline McAdam - Consultant

Caroline has been with this firm for a number of years. She is a duty solicitor both at Court and Police Stations. She is an experienced and skilled advocate. Caroline has an MA in Medical Law and Ethics from King's College, London.

Laura Porteous - Solicitor

Laura previously trained with this firm and joined SGK as a qualified solicitor in 2010. She has rapidly gained a reputation for the high level of client care and professionalism that she provides at every stage of representation. She became a duty solicitor in 2011 and she is a regular advocate in the magistrates court, conducting trials, bail applications and pleas in mitigation. Her notable cases include matters involving serious violence, the successful representation of a man accused of sexually grooming a 13 year old boy by posing on an internet site, and a harassment case involving a Conservative MP.

Michael Strauss - Solicitor

Michael is a key member of the general crime team, and specialises in serious crime. Michael has built up a loyal following, particularly in the east end of London, where his commitment to his clients and "leaving no stone unturned", has quickly gained him a reputation as a lawyer to entrust. He is a ranked lawyer in Chambers and Partners Directory 2012.Michael also deals with confiscation proceedings. His notable cases include, an acquittal in the 'Streatham ice rink murder', representing the Defendant accused of "the Jigsaw Murder" in St Albans Crown Court, several cases where firearms have been used, and a further acquittal in an attempted murder allegation in a gangland shooting.

Peter Walsh - Paralegal
Peter is an accredited police station advisor and a case worker. He is an integral member of the general crime team. Peter has been with the firm for many years and through his commitment and personal attention to his clients has built up an impressive and loyal following. His notable cases include the successful representation of a Defendant charged with a conspiracy to rob a bank, in which a shotgun was discharged; a Defendant charged with a kidnapping forming one of a series of incidents including a carjacking and a shooting; a Defendant charged with conspiracy to supply 1/4 kilo of cocaine following a joint operation by the Metropolitan Police 'Flying squad' and Essex police; and the representation of a Defendant who discharged a shotgun through the window of residential premises.

Sonia Weaver - Paralegal
Sonia has more than 15 years’ experience and has been at the firm for over a decade. She has been an accredited police station representative since 2001. Sonia has excellent focus and attention to detail and is a tenacious defender of her clients’ rights. Her notable cases include securing acquittals in cases of conspiracy to traffick for sexual exploitation, s.18 wounding with intent, sexual assault and a serious allegation of drug-rape. Sonia has successfully defended an Olympic athlete charged with common assault and, more recently, an up and coming restaurateur charged with assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. She also recently represented a Defendant in a widely reported large scale multi handed money laundering operation between the UK and Jamaica.
