PHILIP HILL

Philip started his career with Fisher Meredith followed by a short period as a freelance solicitor, before joining the firm as a Partner in 2001. He became an Equity Partner in 2004. He is head of general crime and oversees the firm’s Quality Standards. His practice is split between serious criminal matters such as murder, firearms, robbery of security companies, and drugs supply; and his private practice where he is particularly sought after by clients who require advice for matters which require delicate handling and judgement.
His practice is noted for its thorough and dedicated approach to every individual’s case combined with an easy personal style.
His notable cases include:
- 2011 R v F Successful representation of main Defendant in multiple conspiracies to rob cash in transit security vans cases and associated firearm offences. As a result of 12 days of legal argument pursuing disclosure, the prosecution withdrew 14 out of the 15 counts against the Defendant.
- 2011 R v A Representation of Nigerian Defendant accused of multiple immigration, child cruelty and assault charges against children reported in press as 'child trafficking and slave labour'.
- 2011 R v L Representation of a young man accused of murdering his grandmother involving complex psychiatric issues and particularly delicate handling.
- 2010 R v T Successful representation of Soho based Brazilian Defendant in large scale drugs supply and money laundering offences.

- 2009 R v B Representation of Defendant accused of the attempted murder of police officers by shooting following cash in transit robberies. Defendant not guilty of attempted murder.
- 2008 R v C Successful representation of Defendant accused of being one of five involved in the murder of a young man in the Southampton area. Defendant found not guilty.
- 2008 R v K Successful representation of one of a group of nightclub door men accused of leaving their posts and killing an individual refused entry. Due to detailed analysis of CCTV evidence, Defendant found not guilty.
